Quartet Twentytwentyone was founded in Vilnius in the year 2005. It’s first performances were dedicated to sonic interpretations of graphic scores and moving image. Later quartet moved towards more abstract, improvised practices (as well as moved to live to different European cities). During few years of interrupted existence quartet performed in festivals such like Jauna Muzika (2006, 2008), Audio Art (2006), Holland Festival (2007), Cut & Splice (2008), Skanumezs (2008), iFEM (2008), Skalvija Cinema Theater (2009) etc. Quartet’s music was broadcast on the waves of BBC Radio 3 and published on several compilations of experimental music. Members of Quartet Twentytwentyone are four Lithuanian musicians Arturas Bumšteinas, Lina Lapelytė, Antanas Dombrovskij, Vilius Šiaulys. The quartet is using laptops as primary instruments for creating and performing the music but also there is a wide range of other electronic and acoustic instruments used (e.g. violin, flute, electric guitar, samplers, synthesizers, amplified objects, midi keyboards etc.). The guest musicians who performed with Quartet Twentytwentyone are Anton Lukoszevieze and Piotr Kurek.
